Match Making (Koot Milaan)

Match making is matching of bride and bride-groom’s horoscope in respect of longevity, prosperity, comforts in married life, progeny and health of both bride and bride-groom. In Astrology, we call it Koot/Guna Milan. It is based in Natal Moon position in Boy and Girl’s Horoscope. There are eight Kootas for match making. These are: (1) Varna (2) Vashya (3) Tara (4) Yoni (5) Graha Maitri (6) Gana (7) Bhakoot and (8) Nadi. These Kootas are given 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8 Marks respectively. Total marks (points) are 36 and at least 18 points should match for finalization of marriage between the two. Above all; Graha Maitri should obtain at least 4 out of 5 points.

MANGAL DOSHA:

Mars occupying 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 and 12th house from the Lagna, Moon or Venus is called Manglik Dosha. From the first house Mars aspects the 4th house of domestic comforts, seventh house of conjugal happiness and eight house of longevity of married life. Eighth house is also called the house of Manglya. The placement of Mars in the forth house causes disagreement between husband and wife and create disharmony. Its presence in the seventh house is highly inauspicious; it creates quarrels leading to misunderstanding. Mars in the eighth house is bad for the spouse, it badly affects the longevity of married life. If Mars dosha is found in both horoscopes of bride and bride-groom, the evil of the Mangal dosha neutralized. This Dosha is considerably weak when it exists from lagna, a little stronger from the Moon and more powerful from Venus.  Mangal dosha gets cancelled if it is present in both of the Bride and Bride Groom’s horoscope.

At length the blessed day of wedding arrived; it was delightful month of Margashirsha and the beginning of the cold season. Having carefully examined and determined the propitious nature of the planets, date, asterism the conjunction of the stars, the day of the week and the hour of wedding the Creator dispatched the note concerning the hour of the wedding through Narada, it was just the same that Janaka’s astrologers had already determined. When all the people heard of this, they observed, “The Astrologers of this place are so many creators as it were”.
